Evansdale has been a math, science and foreign language magnet school since 1993 and is a participant in the High Achievers Program. The faculty and staff are truly committed to promoting academic excellence so that every student reaches his/her potential. Approximately a quarter of the students are in the gifted program. Evansdale has a strong PTA and parent involvement is very evident. We are part of a community that truly cherishes academic excellence and takes great pride in the diversity of its student population and the performance of all students on standardized tests.
2000 Georgia School of Excellence and for Student Achievement and the second place Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl.(2002-2003)2006 School of Excellence.

Lakeside High School

Lakeside has been fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1967. Recognized as a Georgia State and National School of Excellence in 1985. 2003 Newsweek list of Nation's Best Schools placed Lakeside #171 out of 46,000 + high schools in America (2nd highest in GA, 1st in Dekalb County). Lakeside High School was the winner for SAT improvement in Region 7AAAAA. Newsweek 2005 list of top schools, Lakeside was recognized as #106 In the United States (Top in Georgia). In 2005 Lakeside High School was also awarded the Georgia Governor's Office of Student Achievement Bronze Award, which is a recognition for the highest percentage of students meeting or exceeding standards. Academic success is a tradition at Lakeside High School. These results are due to the unending efforts, concentration, guidance of students, parents and all of the staff at Lakeside High School.
